In order to comprehensively deepen practical China-ASEAN cooperation in the field of construction industry, and fully leverage the role of the China (Guangxi)-ASEAN International Building Products and Machinery Expo (hereinafter referred to as the CABE), a delegation of the CABE's Organizing Committee paid a visit to the consulates general of Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia in Nanning respectively from August 28 to September 1 to carry out exchanges and issue letters of invitation to the CABE. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the consuls general. The two sides held in-depth communication on preparations for the CABE, domestic market demand, closer industrial cooperation, among other things, and reached consensus on cooperation in many areas.

During the visit, representatives of the Organizing Committee detailed the core highlights and preparation progress of the expo to the persons responsible at the consulates. The consuls general spoke highly of the positioning and preparations for the expo, and talked about the market demand and cooperation expectations based on the actual development of their own countries.

Ahmad Phadil Ismail, Consul General of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning, said that given Malaysia's ongoing infrastructure projects such as the "Greater Kuala Lumpur Plan", there is an urgent demand for green building materials and intelligent construction technology, and that they look forward to forging cooperation with high-quality Chinese enterprises through the CABE.

Vongpano Sipaseuth, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Nanning, stressed that the infrastructure projects along the China-Laos Railway lines provide broad space for cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that Laos could take advantage of the expo to introduce more building materials and technology enterprises that meet Laos' climatic conditions, and capitalize on the China-Laos Railway to turn Laos into a land transit station in Southeast Asia.

NGUYEN THI HUONG, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Nanning, pointed out that Vietnam and China, as neighboring countries, have connectivity and ties in industry, and that the local construction market has a robust demand for China's cost-effective hardware products. The Consul General also expressed her readiness to assist in mobilizing domestic enterprises to participate in the expo and facilitate supply and demand matching.

Khaing Su Linn, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nanning, said that Myanmar was recently hit by earthquake disasters and post-disaster reconstruction efforts were currently underway. There is an urgent need for Chinese infrastructure construction enterprises and related earthquake-resistant products to enter Myanmar. The Consul General expressed her readiness to support the comprehensive publicity of the expo in Myanmar, and to promote in-depth cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in the field of construction industry.

He said he would actively organize local construction enterprises and buyers to visit and participate in the expo.

In response to their needs, representatives of the Organizing Committee put forward cooperation plans on a case-by-case basis. Prior to the expo, leading Chinese companies will be invited to various countries for face-to-face introductions, which will lay the groundwork for cooperation. During the expo, it will facilitate ASEAN exhibitors in their participation, provide multilingual interpretation/translation services, organize "one-on-one" supply and demand matching meetings, and invite leading Chinese construction enterprises to negotiate with representatives of various countries. At the same time, the two sides agree on establishing a dedicated communication mechanism to share the developments of the expo as well as the needs of enterprises in a timely manner to ensure effective cooperation. Consulates of various countries have said that they will fully support the holding of the CABE, invite government leaders and representatives of business associations to participate in the expo, recommend high-quality domestic enterprises to participate in the expo, and help make it a platform for efficient cooperation between Chinese enterprises and their own markets.

These visits built bridges for comprehensive cooperation between the CABE and the five ASEAN countries, and shed light on the market needs and cooperation areas of various countries. By integrating resources from all parties, the Organizing Committee will optimize the content and services of the expo according to the distinctive needs of each country. It will endeavor to create an industrial event for precision matching and mutually beneficial cooperation, thereby breathing new life into the cooperation between China and the five ASEAN countries in the construction industry, and promoting in-depth and pragmatic Belt and Road cooperation.
